In which our hero gets a new door
One nasty side effect of my porch falling off was that it was pulling my front door out of plumb. A lot. Once I had all of the work done to prevent that from happening in the future, I could start thinking about a nice new door; one that didn’t need to be kicked open (or shut) and wouldn’t have 1/4″ to 1/2″ gaps at various points along its edges. I ordered a Precision Entry Door from Wheaton Door & Window and then waited.
For six weeks.
Today my door was installed, and I’m a happy camper. The installer did an outstanding job (given the parallelogram shape of my door’s rough opening) and I no longer have to hold the door up and slam it just to get it to close, or kick it open. The new door is EnergyStar rated, and I can’t feel a single air leak around its perimeter. Wheeeeeeeee!
